How to Power Cycle (Restart) Your Nimbio Device

How to Power Cycle (Restart) Your Nimbio Device

How to cycle power on your Nimbio device when it has lost cellular internet connection

Introduction:
This guide will explain the four different ways to cycle power on your Nimbio device. The method you use will depend on how your Nimbio is wired to your gate operator and how your gate operator is powered.

Depending on your gate operator, there are 4 different ways to restart your Nimbio device. Please determine which option applies to your operator and select the one which is relevant to you. Videos showing the process are linked below.

1. If your gate operator has a power switch

Cycling power using the switch on the gate operator base:

If your gate operator has a power switch on its base, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the power switch on the gate operator.

  2. Turn the switch to the "Off" position.

  3. Wait 15 to 30 seconds.

  4. Turn the switch back to the "On" position.

  5. Check the Nimbio device’s LED lights. After restarting, you should see a solid blue light indicating that the hardware is searching for a cellular connection. After 30 seconds, the blue LED should flash, indicating the device has connected to the cellular network and is back online.

2. If you have access to a circuit breaker

Cycling power using a circuit breaker:

If your gate operator is connected to a circuit breaker, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the circuit breaker that controls power to the gate operator.

  2. Turn the breaker to the "Off" position.

  3. Wait 15 to 30 seconds.

  4. Turn the breaker back to the "On" position.

  5. Check the Nimbio device’s LED lights. After restarting, you should see a solid blue light indicating that the hardware is searching for a cellular connection. After 30 seconds, the blue LED should flash, indicating the device has connected to the cellular network and is back online.

3. If your operator does not have a power switch, and you don't have access to a circuit breaker

Cycling power by disconnecting the Nimbio device power connector:

If your Nimbio device draws power directly from the gate operator board, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the four small screws on the corners of the Nimbio device to access the internal power connector.

  2. Locate the power connector on the Nimbio device.

  3. Firmly grasp the connector and pull it out to disconnect power.

  4. Wait 15 to 30 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the power connector firmly into place.

  6. Check the Nimbio device’s LED lights. After restarting, you should see a solid blue light indicating that the hardware is searching for a cellular connection. After 30 seconds, the blue LED should flash, indicating the device has connected to the cellular network and is back online.

4. If your gate has a battery backup (including solar-powered operators)

Cycling power on gate operators powered by a battery or with battery backup:

If your gate operator has a battery backup or is solar-powered, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the main power source for the gate operator (e.g., a power switch, circuit breaker, or solar controller).

  2. Turn the power source to the "Off" position.

  3. Disconnect the battery backup to ensure the gate operator is fully powered down.

  4. Wait 15 to 30 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the battery backup and turn the main power source back on.

  6. Check the Nimbio device’s LED lights. After restarting, you should see a solid blue light indicating that the hardware is searching for a cellular connection. After 30 seconds, the blue LED should flash, indicating the device has connected to the cellular network and is back online.
